Paying online with a phone and a bank card

When people shop online, one question comes up more than any other: “Is my money safe?” During a live stream, when you can buy a product you like in a couple of taps, that question matters even more. Here is how payments work in Dona, and how to pay safely online in Uzbekistan.

Ways to pay in Dona

Inside Dona you can pay with:

  • Click and Payme — the most widely used payment services
  • Humo and Uzcard — local bank cards
  • Cash on delivery (COD) — you pay when the order is in your hands

Every method works right inside the app. You are never sent off to another website or asked to tap a stranger’s link.

What “encrypted in-app payment” means

In plain terms: when you enter your card details, they are sealed with a special code between your phone and the payment service. Think of it as putting a letter in a sealed envelope — no one along the way can open and read it.

The payment goes straight through the secure channel of Click, Payme or your bank. The seller never sees your full card number. Your money moves through an official channel tied to a specific order, not onto “someone’s personal card.”

How to avoid scams

Scams almost always follow the same pattern. Keep a few rules in mind:

  1. Never send money when someone in a direct message asks you to “pay to my card.” A real shop will not ask you to transfer money straight onto a personal card.
  2. Never share a one-time code (SMS code, OTP) with anyone. Neither your bank nor Dona will ask for that code by phone or in chat. Giving it away is like handing a stranger the key to your door.
  3. Be wary of deals that look “too cheap.” A price far below the market is often a trap.
  4. Always pay inside the app. If someone is steering you off the app, onto another link, or toward a card-to-card transfer — stop.

Why buying through Dona is safer than a “pay to my card” DM deal

In a social-media deal like “transfer to my card and I’ll ship it,” everything rests on trust: once the money is gone, you have no guarantee left. If the item never arrives or is not what was promised, there is nowhere to turn.

In Dona every order is recorded in the system:

  • The payment is tied to the order, not to a personal card
  • You follow the order status in the app
  • If something goes wrong, there is a path to get help and a refund

So you rely on the system, not on a stranger’s promise.

How refunds work

If an order is cancelled or you return an item, the money goes back to the same method you used. Paid with Click — it returns to Click; paid with a card — it returns to that card. This keeps it clear and traceable where your money is going.

Delivery and tracking

Delivery is arranged by the seller through courier services, while Dona coordinates the order flow and provides tracking and notifications in the app. The order status is visible in the app: being prepared, handed to the courier, out for delivery, delivered.

In short

The main rule for paying safely online is simple: use a trusted, encrypted and traceable channel, never share a one-time code, and never send money to a personal card from a DM. Dona is built exactly on these principles.

Frequently asked questions

Does Dona store my card details?

No. Card and account payments are processed by licensed payment providers, and the card data stays on their side.

Can I give a seller the one-time code from an SMS?

Never. A one-time code belongs to you alone. Anyone who asks for it is a scammer, even if they present themselves as a seller.

How long does a refund take?

The timing depends on the payment method and the provider. The process is described in the Payments & Refunds Policy, and the money goes back to the same instrument you paid with.
