How to choose a phone charger — 20 W, 45 W, GaN, car chargers

A new phone box usually has no charger, only a cable. And the old 5 W adapter charges a new phone in three hours. The right charger fills the battery in an hour without harming it. On Dona wall and car chargers start at 19,000 UZS.

Pick the wattage by the phone

• 18 to 20 W: enough for most Android phones and iPhones. 50 percent in 30 minutes.
• 25 to 30 W: full speed for Samsung and newer Android models.
• 45 W: Samsung “Super Fast Charging 2.0”, tablets, light laptops.
• 60 W and up: laptops, two devices at once.

If the phone takes 20 W, a 45 W charger does no harm: the device draws what it needs.

PD, QC, GaN, three abbreviations

• PD (Power Delivery): the Type-C standard. iPhone, Samsung, Xiaomi all fast-charge over PD.
• QC (Quick Charge): Qualcomm’s standard over the USB-A port. For older Android phones.
• GaN: a newer material. The charger is half the size and runs cooler. Handy for travel.

A two-port charger (USB-C + USB-A) is the most universal: new and old devices at the same time.

The seller plugs the charger in and shows “Fast charging” on the phone screen. That is the most reliable check: the photo says “20W”, in the live the phone confirms it.

Frequently asked questions

Does a cheap charger damage the phone? Branded ones (Hoco, Borofone, Ugreen, Samsung) have protection. Avoid no-name 10,000 UZS adapters.

Which one for an iPhone? iPhone 15 and newer are Type-C; PD 20 W is enough. Older ones need a Type-C to Lightning cable (Borofone BA104a — 27,000 UZS).

Is a cable included? If the name says “with cable”, yes. Otherwise ask in the live.
